Barry Callebaut does not own any cocoa plantations. The company is committed to improving production and working conditions in cocoa producing countries. We support numerous projects and initiatives in Africa, Latin America and elsewhere, acting in collaboration with industry associations and non-government organizations.
Several projects on awareness-raising and in the field of education and technology have been launched. In late 2001, Barry Callebaut was among the signatories of the “Industry Protocol”, a date-specific action plan to ensure that cocoa is grown without abusive child labor or forced labor.
