Organic cocoa farming programs
Organic farming, which embraces practices to produce cocoa in a sustainable way, is helping to make a positive difference in the lives of many cocoa farmers and their families. Despite strong growth in recent years, organic cocoa and chocolate remains a niche market.
Tree planing project in Tanzania
Barry Callebaut is partnering with Biolands and the Internet portal Utopia on a project to plant 250,000 trees on cocoa farms in Tanzania. The project is being promoted on packages of Sarotti organic chocolate being sold in Germany.

Industry initiatives
Barry Callebaut is a member of a number of organizations that support industry initiatives aimed at making sure that cocoa is grown and processed responsibly.
Fairtrade
Barry Callebaut offers a range of Fairtrade-certified cocoa and chocolate products. The products are certified under the FLO-Cert certificate of Fair Trade Labelling Organizations International.
